February 20th - 23rd 2008

Through this site I was found and contacted by my first cousin Joanne Elizabeth Seath who now lives in France with her husband Jimmy and their two sons Alex and Cameron.  She is the daughter of my fathers younger brother Bobby and we had lost touch some 20 years ago.  After many hours chatting on the phone she finally visited us here in Scotland for a few, wonderful days, catching up on old memories and news of what had happened to us both.  It was wonderful to see her again and we both know it will not be another 20 years before we see each other again.

I was contacted by Dave Smart with regard to the Donibristle Mine Disaster in 1901.  It appears Thomas Rattray (Oversman) who died in the disaster while heading the rescue team was married to the widow of Andrew Seath who also died in the Donibristle No 12 pit in 1888.  Dig deep enough and you will find a connection.
